There are manifold, and partly very funny, possibilities for application:
e.g. horse troughs, water pipes, water containers for horses, cows, sheeps, dogs etc.
You can even grant your chicken the luxury of flowing water in winter.

No more freezing of pipes and water bins.

Very important: if the cable is installed within the reach of animals, it has to be protected from
bites! E.g. by means of building foam and a housing made of wood or similars.

You do not need any control unit. The cable cannot overheat or burn out.

Application

Self-regulating heating cables need no maintenance and are economical. The assembly is very easy and needs almost no planning. The application fields are manifold, mainly they are used for heating of pipes, valves, plate slides and rain pipes. Due to their adaptability on individual environmental temperatures, expensive control devices are not need and the energy costs are remarkably reduced.

Mode of operation:

Self-regulating heating cables consist of two parallel copper wires, which are imbedded in a carbon matrix. The current, which flows through the copper wires, has numerous parallel resistors due to the carbon matrix, which results in tightening of the carbon in sinking environmental temperatures and therefore more current is flowing - there is more heating. When the environmental temperatures rise, it´s to the contrary, the carbon expands and less current is flowing - there´s less heating, so that an energy reduction starts at about +5 degrees C. Therefore the heating can be conducted throughout the winter months, as the self-regulating heating cable reacts on temperature fluctuation. After the end of the freezing period simply separate the cable from power supply as the current consumption does not completely stop in higher environmental temperatures (similar to stand-by modus of TV´s). The shielding of copper mesh has a protective earth conductor as per VDE 0100 and it guards against contact.
